Chantilly, VA - December 12, 2006 - InfinityQS® International, the leading provider of statistical process control (SPC) software, today announced an upgrade to their industry leading ProFicient™ software. This upgrade includes enhancements that allow users to perform lot acceptance sampling—a procedure for examining the quality of incoming materials.
InfinityQS upgraded ProFicient to accommodate the requirements of a new client in the medical device manufacturing sector. Medtronic, the global leader in medical technology, required lot acceptance sampling functionality to help streamline its quality control procedures and records keeping. As the highest ranked SPC provider to the medical products field by ARC Advisory Group, InfinityQS continues to incorporate functionality into its software to support FDA regulations.
"Customer requirements drive our development strategy, and we make enhancements that users can immediately benefit from," said Michael A Lyle, president and CEO of InfinityQS International. "Our software is often selected by manufacturers because they can use it out-of-the box without having to spend extra time and money on customization. The software is easily configurable to meet the unique needs of each customer's manufacturing environment, which is why the Lot Acceptance Sampling feature for Medtronic was a critical enhancement."
The new Lot Acceptance Sampling feature in ProFicient allows users to select a random sample from an incoming "lot" of materials and analyze the sample in real-time to make a decision regarding the lot's quality. Competing SPC solutions do not include the functionality to conduct incoming inspection sampling because the parts are not sequentially ordered when they arrive.
In addition to incoming inspection sampling, Medtronic is using ProFicient to consolidate multiple sources of data into one package. With this standardized system for data collection, inspection control, data entry and process monitoring, Medtronic can perform an extensive analysis of its quality data and maintain a single repository for quality records.
"With ProFicient, we can monitor our processes from beginning to end," said W. Garth Conrad, quality systems group director for Medtronic. "Incoming material and components, as well as finished goods testing, will be controlled using the new Lot Acceptance Sampling functionality. Coupled with InfinityQS' proven SPC platform, we can implement a consistent method of inspection control, process monitoring and capability analysis across the entire manufacturing operation."
Other enhancements to ProFicient in this upgrade include specialized security features and increased graphic file support.
